Mastroserio 2014 Quartetto  - A spectacular Bordeaux Blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 20% Petit Verdot. This blend was made from the best selection and tireless hand-destemming of premium grapes.  This garnet red colored wine has multiple layers of aromas and flavors that will stay in your palate and in your memory for a long time.

All the black label wines are barrel fermented in 60 gallon French Oak barrels with a minimum of three months extended macerations. After draining, the barrels are opened to take the skins out and refilled for aging.

" Quartetto, that means quartet of course. It’s made by four ingredients. It's a Bordeaux blend that’s made out of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The five barrels were two barrels Cabernet Sauvignon, the other three: just one barrel Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. There’s one particular feature of this Quartetto, this Bordeaux blend- the Petit Verdot is really high. The Petit Verdot is twenty percent. Its a big structured wine, but it doesn’t taste heavy. The Petit Verdot actually slenders the structure of the wine.

So, it’s a phenomenal blend that doesn't stand with any other wines that I have here. Its just on its own galaxy. The beauty of this wine is its unique flavors... Stratas and layers of flavors...

And like we say in the sommelier school, there are lots of flavors that start from the beginning, when you have the wine in the glass. But there are some flavors, they start thirty seconds after, a minute after… two minutes after. That is like having a vertical package, of layers, and then some other packages go horizontally. So if you do the average between all of these, it creates a function that comes up at a forty-five degree angle. And it gives you the complexity of this wine.

"If you were to have a nose like a hunting dog, you’d be just crazy about this wine!, because there are so many aromas that it’s unbelievable. You can spot a lot of aromas, it would be just like writing it down  ...a full page, ... maybe two pages ...finding aromas. "  Ruggero Mastoserio
